Plano - Parental Control App
Product Management | Design Leadership | UI/UX
Plano is an eye health-tech company based in Singapore that specializes in spreading awareness about eye care to all ages. As the Head of Product, my role in the company currently was to spearhead the vision/road-map of the range of tech solutions that the company has to offer, such as the website, its eye companion app, and its eye check booking platform. I am currently leading the products in from all aspects of the development cycle, from requirement gathering, design, development, user acceptance testing to deployment.
I also doubled up as the UI/UX lead for the design team, with job scopes ranging from; collecting data from users, conceptualizing the user journey maps, working on low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes alongside a team of 2 junior designers as well as a team of 6 software developers to ensure that iterations of the products can fulfil both business goals as well as users needs.
The PlanoApp exists in two modes - Parent mode and Child mode. The Parent mode allows parents to keep track of their child's device usage behaviour, while the Child mode instills healthy device habits to the child through gamification.
The parent is able to block apps from the child's device, or to limit the amount of screen time of the child.
The app provides real-time monitoring of your child's device use behaviour such as having good posture, having safe distance from the screen, and taking regular eye breaks.
The app has its own built-in points redemption store where parents can reward their children with tangible gifts if they accumulate enough points through healthy device use habits.
The app also provides a feed full of educational content about healthy eye management, managed through an in-built content-managements system designed by me.
The app tracks all the device use habits by the child and provide comprehensive visual data to the parent to inform them about the progress of their child.
