Electrolux - Smart App for Connected Appliances

Designing experiences that align across the digital app space and the physical appliance is a delicate balance of functionality and usability. As a UI designer within the Electrolux Group, I meticulously integrate user interactions within the app to harmonize with the functionalities offered by the appliance.
For instance, if the appliance supports precise temperature control, I ensure that the app provides users with granular options for adjusting cooking settings remotely. Likewise, if the appliance integrates with voice assistants or smart home ecosystems, I design voice command functionalities within the app to seamlessly communicate with the appliance.
I also actively participate in design system discussions and workshops, to ensure that our collective efforts align with the overarching design principles, brand guidelines, and user experience goals. This collaborative approach enables us to establish shared patterns, components, and design tokens that promote coherence and efficiency across various UI elements and interactions. By leveraging design systems collaboratively, we not only enhance productivity and consistency within the design team but also ensure that users benefit from a seamless and intuitive experience as they navigate through different sections of the app.
Users are able to control and monitor their appliance remotely through the Electrolux App
Useful maintenance guides are readily available for users to refer to without having to look for user manuals
Users can also link up the app to voice assistants such as Alexa or Google Assistant and control their appliance through voice commands
Users can set up automated actions for their appliances at certain times or dates, e.g. keep their fridge at a more energy-efficient temperature whenever the user is on vacation.
Advanced prototyping using Figma variables and conditionals were often created for user guerilla tests to validate the effectiveness of my designs
A comprehensive design system was established to streamline the design process among all designers in Electrolux while upholding a cohesive visual language and user experience across different parts of the app
